HAVANA: Akin Gump, the first US lobbying firm (with $ 36.5 million in revenue in 2014), is opening a new business unit to advise companies interested in the Cuban market.
The daily points out that this action responds to the redoubling of efforts by the international business community since the announcement of the restoration of bilateral relations to get Congress to relax more restrictions on travel, food processing sales, export of telecommunication devices, travel and other sectors.
The new Akin Gump unit will advise on issues of legal strategy and lobbying firms aspiring to enter or have already entered the Cuban market. A press release from the company states that this includes “advice to anticipate and adapt to the impending changes in the rapidly changing political and business Cuban landscape.”
