DG Input Output Coefficient Organization asked for early disposal of DTRE cases

KARACHI: The Director General, Input Output Coefficient Organization (IOCO) has directed officials of the directorate at Customs House to ensure early disposal of cases and avoid arbitrarily delay in the process, it is learnt.

The Director-General IOCO, Shaukat Ali, recently visited the IOCO Directorate at Customs House and held a detailed meeting with the officials of the directorate.

The sources told Customs Today, that the DG was informed about the shortage of staff at the IOCO directorate. However, the DG assured that he would approach the Federal Board of Revenue over the staff shortage.

Presently, there are some 15 officers at all to run the IOCO that included Director General, Director Headquarters, Director-South, Director-North, Deputy Director-Headquarters, superintendent, assistants, clerk, junior clerk, peon etc, they said, adding that it was proposed to the higher authorities that the strength should be enhanced with at least 50 officials.

It is recalled here that the IOCO was authorized/assigned to determine/fix/rationalize duty drawback rates, wastages and finalization of application under the DTRE Scheme, proper scrutiny of documents, examination or audit of commercial record by the sector specialist/director IOCO etc.

The IOCO was established in 2000 and since then it was not authorized to do the prescribed job as laid down in the Customs Rules.
