Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled items worth Rs 19m in August

FAISALABAD: The Customs Investigation and Intelligence Faisalabad has seized various contraband items including non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 19.866 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 13.244 million during August 2015.

Following the instructions of Additional Director Muhammad Ismail, teams of Customs Intelligence, including the Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab, took stern action against smugglers who were causing loss to the national kitty .

The Customs Intelligence Faisalabad has seized 1,250 cans of Iranian motor oil and smuggled fabric, besides, impounding two trucks which were used for the transportation of the smuggled items bearing Registration No. LIT-4643 and TLB-242. Officials said that the value of the seized items has been estimated at Rs 13.591 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 9.626 million.

On the other hand, Customs FIU Khushab confiscated smuggled auto parts, welding rods, alloy rims and led pencils along with a truck, while total value of the seized items is Rs 6.275 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 3.618 million.

Customs Intelligence teams comprising Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz, Superintendent Muhammad, Tahir Iqbal, Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Saeed Khan, Mansoor Khan, Mian Muhammad Yousaf, Intelligence officer Muhammad Saleem, Sepoy Masood Iqbal and Ghulam participated in the raids.

Raids were conducted by Customs Intelligence teams at different areas including Sheikhpura Road, motorways, Smundri Roads, Jhang Road and also Sargodha Road.
