DUBAI: As a number of government departments, institutions and private entities continue to express their solidarity for the fallen soldiers, Dubai Customs has named one of their rooms “The Martyrs’ Hall”. The staff launched a fundraiser to build a mosque in their name.
“We want it to be one of the biggest and central mosques in the Emirate of Dubai,” said the Customs’ Director of Corporate Communication, Khalil Saqar Bin Ghuraib.
He said the entire staff expressed their support for the idea, “in support of our gallant soldiers who lost their lives while defending the disenfranchised people in Yemen last Friday.”
At the same time, DC also chose to name one of its halls after the martyrs.
“It is a strategic hall which has always hosted local and foreign delegations,” said Khalil in a communication released on Sunday.
“This is part of our contribution that exhibits support for the humanitarian and charitable endeavours that our country champions in different corners of the world. We must walk the same path,” he said.
Khalil said that upon generating the idea, the staffers made intranet communication which was warmly received.
“We then shared it with other offices of the Customs across the emirate. Most staffers appreciated the fact that we were the first to come up with such an idea.”
Meanwhile, other government departments such as Dubai Police continued to send delegations to convey condolence to the families of the victims across the country.
