ISLAMABAD: The Customs Special Court Wednesday sought details from Customs authorities about vehicles released on bank guarantees to their owners.
The court showed annoyance over the method of releasing vehicles on bank guarantees and it is expected that the court would require strict action in this regard in the future . The court decided this after the court learned about shortcoming in the release of vehicles on bank guarantees since there were many people who were released vehicles on bank guarantees despite the fact that they were court absconders. The court had not been properly briefed about these people. The court’s decision has created problems for Customs officers since they had helped many people in release of vehicles without investigation.
