LAHORE: The recent transfers and postings created an extreme resentment and annoyance in customs officials, especially among the female officers who have to look after their school-going children and elderly parents while serving  in Lahore, Customs Today learnt here.

The male and female officers alike are of the view that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) management should review the transfers and postings of the female cadre enabling them to discharge their official and family obligations efficiently at their home town.

They are of the view that it is  for the first time that such thoughtless transfers and postings ordered without taking into account  their   adverse impact or family life.

After summer vacations, school sessions started and huge amounts of fees paid. In these circumstances it is next to impossible to shift to new schools in different locations, they said, adding that the decision was a discriminatory one on the part of the Board of management as female officers posted in Karachi and IR are seldom transferred and posted.

They appealed to FBR chairman Tariq Bajwa and Member Customs Nisar Ahmed to review transfers and posting of the female officers on humanitarian grounds.
