ANF recovers Rs54.3m drug in six raids

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized Rs54.3 million drugs including 31kg charas, 3.5kg heroin, 30 bottles of wine, and also arrested eight drug traffickers including a woman during six different anti-smuggling raids carried out in Jhelum, Peshawar, Shikarpur and Karachi.

As per details, ANF Karachi’s Road Check Team intercepted a suspected Suzuki Mehran car No Z-4271 at Humayun Sharif Stop on Jacobabad Road, Shikarpur and recovered 25kg charas concealed in secret cavities of the car. Two accused namely Zubair Ahmed and Muhammad Nazwaz, both residents of District Shaikarpur, were taken into custody on the spot.

ANF Karachi, in an operation conducted in the area of Khas Kheli Para, Ibrahim Haideri Goth, held 2 local drug suppliers namely Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Ashiq and seized 2.5kg charas and 30 bottles of wine. The drugs were concealed in their baggage.

Meanwhile, ANF Karachi intercepted two different UK-bound parcels at TCS office, Jinnah International Airport, which separately contained 3kg and 490 gram heroin tactfully concealed in 8 boxes of Bangles and Rabab (musical instruments), respectively.

ANF Peshawar’s Road Check Team, on frisking a passenger van during routine checking near main Motorway Toll Plaza, apprehended a lady smuggler namely Gulab Zarin w/o Abid Ullah (Late) and recovered 3kg charas (garda) from her possession. Charas was packed in 3 packets kept in a shopping bag. As per initial reports, the accused was coming from Peshawar and was on her way to Rawalpindi for delivering drugs.
