Federal law ministry appoints Qamarul Haq as member judicial in IR-tribunal Lahore

Peshawar Customs Appellate Tribunal has no members to hear cases

ISLAMABAD: Federal Ministry of Law has designated Qamarul Haq Bhatti Advocate as member judicial (BS-21) here at Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal Lahore.

The ministry has issued notification regarding the appointment of the Bhatti who was assigned this task on two year contract with standard terms and conditions.

On the other hand, the officials of Customs Investigation and Prosecution Peshawar are facing difficulties in pursuing the cases as there is no any judge in Customs Appellate Tribunal Peshawar.

Sources said that officials of Peshawar Customs have to go to Islamabad to attend the court hearing which was creating problems not only for them but also putting burden over the Islamabad tribunal which causing delay in settlement of cases.

Model Custom Collectorate Peshawar was pondering over to write a letter to the law ministry for the appointment of the judicial member and technical member in Peshawar tribunal to ease the situation, the officials added.

Sources said that Karachi Customs Appellate Tribunal bench-I was working without member technical, adding that situation in Karachi was better than Peshawar as two other benches were there for hearing the cases.
