FBR seeks list of non-filers of income tax returns

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sought a list of its officials who have taxable income and not been filing income tax returns regularly from their respective offices.

FBR Chief Revenue and Operations Dr Amir Talpur has asked all the FBR office heads, including chief commissioners Inland Revenue, larger taxpayers units, regional tax offices, directorates of intelligence and investigation, directorates of training and research, chief coordinators of computer wings and chief facilitation, Customs Wing FBR. The FBR ordered them to identify the officials who have taxable income, but are not filing their tax returns and order them to file their returns for the last three years.

Earlier, the FBR has discontinued performance allowance of 62 officials for not filing their tax returns. The officials were asked to file their income tax returns to get their performance allowances restored.
