MOHALI: A local health team recovered smuggled drugs worth Rs 5.70 lakh from a Lalru-based company. Hussan Lal, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Punjab, said the team raided a wholesale firm, Candor Biotech, at Alamgir village, Lalru, and recovered drugs worth Rs 5.70 lakh, which were likely to be misused and for which the bills could not be produced by the in-charge of the firm as required under the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
The team, including Amit Lakhanpal, Drugs Inspector, Mohali, seized 85,150 tablets of alprazolam, 17,000 tablets of clonazepam, 18,000 tablets of chlordiazepoxide and 7,800 injections of tramadol.
“Legal proceeding have been initiated against the violator as per the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetic Act,” said Hussan Lal.
He added that such inspections would be carried out to eliminate the possibility of the sale of sub-standard drugs.
