Oman inks trade agreement with China to enhance cooperation

MUSCAT: The ninth round of the strategic consultations between the foreign ministries of the Sultanate and the People’s Republic of China was held in Muscat on Friday.

The Omani side was led by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, secretary general of the Foreign Ministry, while the Chinese side was led by Zhang Ming, vice minister of foreign affairs.

The session discussed various aspects of bilateral co-operation between the two countries and means of enhancing them, particularly in the trade, investment, cultural, economic and other areas that serve the interests of the two friendly countries and people.

The two sides also exchanged viewpoints on regional and international issues of common concern. They stressed the importance of supporting all peace efforts being exerted to strengthen co-operation and understanding, as well as maintaining peace and stability in the world.

The session was also attended by Sheikh Yahya bin Abdullah Al Fanna, head of the economic affairs sector, the Chinese ambassador, and a number of officials from the foreign ministries of the two countries.
