DUBAI: The Global Customs and Trade Facilitation Summit will be held from 27th to 29th October. Hosted by the UAE Ministry of Economy, this major trade forum will host over 600 trade leaders from over 90 nations and 120 speakers. As part of the activities held for the Global Trade Development Week, the ‘Global Customs and Trade Facilitation’ summit will take place.
This summit will be held in partnership with Dubai Customs; the world’s leading Customs department in developing Customs work, with the objective of facilitating global trade and investment. H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, shall deliver a speech at the summit; addressing the Customs role in boosting economic competitiveness and international trade development. Musabih will also showcase DC’s experience in Customs systems’ development and the utilization of the latest IT applications to facilitate legitimate trade.
The summit will bring together a host of prominent world organizations’ leaders, representing the EU Commission, WTO, Interpol, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC). The list of speakers comprises of representatives’ form the world’s largest corporations, such as IBM, Huawei, Nokia and Nestle, and shall be attended by dignitary delegations from industrial and emerging markets and economies.
The panel sessions, held as part of the summit, will shed light on the perspective of private and public sectors towards the liberation of global trade, and its role in eliminating trading barriers, increasing trade and investment transparency. It shall also investigate in the role of technology in supportingtrade facilitation and streamlining goods flow between borders, besides addressing the need for risk management programs limitingrisk factors within the international supply chains.
