LONDON: Ukrainian sea ports for the past several days process the ships under the simplified procedure. During the 3 days of working by the new rules the ports of Ukraine processed 113 vessels, including a cabotage container ship. Directly on board the various forms of monitoring were carried out in less than half of the cases.
Implementation of the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 491 has shown a reduction in processing time of tonnage in the ports in the first days of using the simplified rules for vessel and cargo processing. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the average arrival/departure time of the vessel is 16 minutes compared to what previously took several hours. In addition, according to market operators, in other countries’ ports these procedures take about an hour.
UkrAgroConsult believes, simplified procedure vessel and cargo processing in seaports of Ukraine may become the basis for the increase in cargo turnover and attractiveness of Ukrainian Black Sea ports. According to the latest data of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, as of September 9, 2015 the country’s sea ports processed 23.5 MMT of grains, which is 15.8% higher per year. The total turnover at the ports for the given period increased 2.1% to 98.88 MMT.
It should be noted that in the region continues to have the decline in prices on the grain market. Amid the recent decrease of freight rates and simplified procedures for cargo clearance at the ports, Ukrainian grain will be able to remain competitive on world markets.
