MIAMI: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operation (OFO) officers at Miami International Airport (MIA) seized 383 grams of cocaine concealed in powdered cold formula packets arriving in a package from Guatemala.
CBP officers selected the package for further examination and discovered various medicines. When officers held the packets of cold powder formula packets they noticed they felt unusually heavy. The white powder within the packets tested positive for cocaine and a total of 383 grams of cocaine was seized. All evidence was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
“Our CBP officers have yet again demonstrated their exceptional talent in identifying shipments containing drugs. We recognize this is not an easy feat and we thank them continuously for their dedicated service,” said Miami International Port Director Christopher Maston.
CBP strives to safeguard America’s borders thereby protecting the public from dangerous people and materials while enhancing the Nation’s global economic competitiveness by enabling legitimate trade and travel. The men and women of CBP are responsible for enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws and regulations. On a typical day, CBP welcomes nearly 1 million visitors, screens more than 67,000 cargo containers, arrests more than 1,100 individuals and seizes nearly 6 tons of illicit drugs.
