HYDERABAD: Customs sleuths at the RGI Airport intercepted acouple returning to Hyderabad from Abu Dhabi on Monday night and seized 1.75 kg gold worth Rs 45 lakh from the woman.
While screening passengers who arrived by an Etihad Airways flight (EY 276) from Abu Dhabi on Monday night, the customs officials found a couple behaving in a tensed manner. When subjected to metal detector test, the sleuths found out that the woman, Ghousia Mubeen, was wearing eight gold kadas on her legs and carrying three gold biscuits in her clothes.
“The total weight of the seized gold was 1.75 kg. Ghousia was carrying the entire gold. We have arrested her. Her husband, who also hails from Hyderabad, is being questioned,” a customs official said.
