CORK: A joint operation by Revenue and the Gardaí uncovered 20,000 unstamped Aroma cigarettes and 15kg of unstamped Flandria tobacco in the third haul of illegal cigarettes in Cork in two weeks.
The find, made in Glanmire, Co Cork, on Saturday, is worth a retail value of €15,500, with a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €12,000.
A saloon vehicle was also seized.
Including this seizure, 595,000 illegal cigarettes have been discovered in Cork in the last two weeks.
Two men in their 50s from Northern Ireland came before a sitting of Cork District Court on Sunday and are to appear at a further sitting on Monday.
