Faisalabad Customs decides to send show-cause notices in diesel smuggling case

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication has decided to send show-cause notices under Section 171 to two accused in a case related to smuggling of Iranian diesel.

In a case related to smuggling of 39,500 litres of Iranian high speed diesel, the Customs Adjudication Faisalabad will send show cause notices to the alleged smugglers – Sher Abbas, son of Muhammad Hussain and a resident of Joyia, Darya Khan tehsil, Bhakkar district, and Abid Hayat, son of Khizer Hayat, a resident of Chak 34/TDA, Bhakkar district – who were smuggling the commodity in an oil tanker bearing registration number TL-165.

According to sources, the case was registered against the above-said persons after recording statements of two witnesses.

An FIR number 09/2015 dated 20-08-2015 was lodged against the accused by the Investigation and Prosecution Branch of the Faisalabad Customs.

The notices are being prepared and the accused will be given a grace period of 30 days to submit their reply; otherwise the Customs Adjudication will take stern action against them.
