ST. JOHN’s: Forty-four pounds of hash, 20 pounds of marijuana, and $115,000 cash was seized by police from an east-end home, leading to the arrest of three St. John’s residents.
59-year-old Sharon Elizabeth Jeans, 61-year-old Stephen John Jeans, and 59-year-old Kenneth Bannister are facing multiple charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
The hash, labelled as “Black Gold #7,” is believed to be from Afghanistan. It was wrapped in colorful plastic, with Polish markings. Superindendent Marlene Jesso says this particular batch made its way to St. John’s through Montreal. Jesso believes these drugs may have a link to terrorist efforts.
