KOZHIKODE: A 38-year-old man was arrested today after brown sugar worth about Rs. 1.5 crore in the illegal international market was seized from him in Kozhikode today, excise official sources said.
Savad was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act following a tip off that he was engaged in the illegal business, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Suresh said.
He procured the brown sugar from Delhi to sell it in Kuwait, he said.
Savad was jailed earlier for committing similar offences in Kozhikode, official said, adding that he will be produced before a special court at Vadakara in the district.
