SEOUL: South Korean stocks traded slightly higher late Friday morning on gains in carmakers and logistics.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 2.43 points, or 0.12 percent, to 1,981.75 as of 11:20 a.m.
Carmakers traded higher, with Hyundai Motor adding 0.3 percent and auto parts maker Hyundai Mobis moving up 0.43 percent.
Logistics shares also traded bullish, with Hyundai Glovis rising 0.22 percent and Hyundai Merchant Marine adding 7.22 percent. Top air carrier Korean Air advanced 2.03 percent.
The local currency was changing hands at 1,179.80 won against the greenback as of 11:20 a.m., down 3.50 won from Thursday’s close.
