COPENHAGEN: Industrial enzyme maker Novozymes of Denmark has acquired Pacific Vet Group-USA to strengthen position in probiotics for animals, the company announced Monday.
For an undisclosed value, Novozymes bought the Arkansas-based company that has significant know-how in animal health care.
Pacific Vet Group-USA’s products are based on beneficial bacteria, mainly lactic acid bacteria, and technologies to improve gut health in poultry.
Novozymes is a leading global enzyme manufacturer, with a global market share of 48 percent.
The Copenhagen-based company first entered the probiotics for animals business in May, when it announced partnership with one of the biggest manufacturers of nutritional additives, Adisseo, to develop and market a probiotic for poultry. Probiotics are naturally occurring, live microbes that improve the gut flora of pigs, poultry and other animals.
Pacific Vet Group-USA, founded in 2008, has 23 employees, and its business is primarily in research and application development.
