LAHORE: Pakistan Tax Bar Association President Mohsin Nadeem has said that the newly introduced IRIS (Integrated Risk Information System) software is full of flaws and taxpayers and tax practitioners are facing a lot of problems. He demanded the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to rectify and settle these issues at the earliest.
He voiced these views while presiding over a meeting in Pakistan Tax Bar Association’s office.
Senior vice president Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) Jamil Akhtar Baig, vice president Muhammad Mohsin Virk, general secretary Abdul Qadoos Mughal and other office bearers were also present on this occasion.
The PTBA president said that tax practitioners and tax related people are totally unaware and uninformed about complicated IRIS software system due to which they are facing difficulties.
Mohsin Nadeem demanded the FBR to arrange training sessions on IRIS software system for tax practitioners and tax related persons in all big cities of the country. He said that the PTBA has already offered infrastructure and support in conducting these training sessions. He pointed out that Active Taxpayers List (ATL) is not updated and people who filed their tax returns for the year 2015 are not included in the list. He demanded the FBR to take prompt action and include new taxpayers in ATL and they should not be deprived of benefits associated
with taxpayers.
President PTBA directed the general secretary Abdul Qadoos Mughal to issue letters to all tax practitioners of the country and get proposals and suggestions about new IRIS software system so that future planning could be finalized.
Meeting thanked Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar for extending the date of filing of income tax return till 31st October 2015.
