NEW YORK: Following a multi-agency investigation, Ithaca police seized 5.2 grams of crack cocaine packaged to sell, thousands of dollars in cash, and have charged a Bronx man with a felony in connection with the possession.
Leonard C. Sterling, 39, of Bronx, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Members of the Ithaca Police Department Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant to Sterling. The warrant was the result of an investigation into heroin and crack cocaine trafficking involving Sterling, police said.
When the warrant was served, Sterling was found to be in possession of 5.2 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale and more than $3,000.
Sterling was arraigned in the Ithaca City Court. and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. He was still in the county jail as of Wednesday.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division and New York State CNET Team assisted in the investigation.
