MULTAN: The Collectorate of Customs Appeal has issued the first Order -in-Original in Urdu language after implementation of Urdu in the country.
Collector Appeal Dr Asif Mehmud Jah also awarded “Pride of Performance” recently by the government of Pakistan. Collector Dr Asif Mehmud Jah became the first Customs official who implemented the Supreme Court decision by issuing an Order-in Original in Urdu language.
Collector Appeal Dr Asif Mehmud Jah decided the case of smuggled vehicle seized by Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range in their jurisdiction. Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized a six wheeler vehicle with the assistance of Border Military Police. The seized vehicle was loaded with 97 drums of mobil oil containing 52 drums of high speed diesel mobil oil, 41 drums of used black mobil oil and four empty drums of mobil oil.
Customs authorities seized the vehicle and smuggled mobil oil after formation of seizure report. The seizure report of the seized goods and vehicles was forwarded to Customs Adjudication for further proceeding. The owner was served a show-cause notice in this case.
During the hearing of whole case no representative from the accused attended the hearing of the seized items and vehicles in the Customs Adjudication .After several hearings Customs Adjudication concluded the seizure case by passing the verdict of confiscated seized goods and vehicles out rightly.
Owner of vehicle Abdul Majeed son of Haji Mehr Kali Jallani Urwazai resident of post office tehsil Chaman district Qilaa Abdullah filed the appeal in appellant tribunal against the confiscation of his vehicle registration number LOK-6539 with a view that said vehicle was operating under the driver of Goods Transport Company. Border Military Police taken the vehicle into their custody and said that they will inform them after its verification but later they handed over the said vehicle to the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Dera Ghazi Khan unit.
After the verification of vehicle from Motor Registration Authority that owner of vehicle is registered on the name of owner Abdul Majeed and on those grounds the ownership of vehicle was confirmed legal.
Collector Customs Appeal Dr. Asif Mehmud Jah issued the Order-in-Original by imposing Rs 50,000 penalty to owner of the vehicle LOK-6539 and directed to release the said vehicle in their verdict after the payment of fine under Section 181 of Customs act 1969.
Dr.Asif Mehmud Jah made history in the Pakistan customs after issuing first Order-in-Original in national Urdu language of the country. The first issued Order-in-Original was consist of four pages and it was decided on 6th October, 2015.
Collector Dr.Asif Mehmud Jah achieved several awards due to his exceptional performance in the department of Customs .Collector Asif Mehmud Jah is also well known for his social work for the rescue of flood affect people. He shown excellence and courage throughout his service in the respective field of Customs.
