WEBCOP’s Malik Tahir hails formation of Council on Kalabagh Dam

LAHORE: Chairman of Workers Employers Bilateral Council of Pakistan (WEBCOP) Malik Tahir Javed has welcomed the establishment of Council on Kalabagh Dam and termed it a step in the right direction.

According to a statement, Malik Tahir Javed said that establishment of council will help early construction of Kalabagh Dam. He said that the council should call an urgent meeting of all Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other trade bodies to announce a joint declaration on Kalabagh dam. He said that experts, IRSA members and WAPDA former chairmen should also be invited to the meeting as IRSA and former Chairmen of WAPDA are strongly in favour of the Kalabagh Dam.

Malik Tahir Javed said that formation of Council on Kalabagh dam has provided business community a platform for joint struggle for early construction of Kalabagh dam that is a must to avoid hunger and drought. He said that they enemies of the country who are opposing Kalabagh dam for their vested interests.

Chairman WEBCOP said that Kalabagh dam would not only ensure availability of water throughout the year but would also generate cheap and sufficient electricity in the country.
