PESHAWAR: The number of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) memberships would be enhanced from existing 300 to 500 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This was claimed by newly-elected president of WCCI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasra Laghmani. She expressed the resolve of making strenuous efforts for promoting women entrepreneurship in the province by providing maximum facilities to business women to flourish and grow.
The WCCI president said that female had equal potential of supporting their families by making an honourable earning, but the only thing they needed was support of family and congenial work environment.
“There is a lot of talent and if proper guidance and support is provided, our women folk can contribute a lot in improving the economy of the province badly affected due to decade long war against terrorism”, she remarked.
Nasra Laghmani, who is an experienced business women and a social worker too, said the biggest problem faced by female business women was lack of finance and guidance.
WCCI, she said, was providing proper guidance to aspiring women for starting business, promoting it from low level to high and also in e-business.
As far as finance is concerned, WCCI is making efforts and requesting government from time and again to provide micro loans on soft terms to business women.
President WCCI also appreciated the role of SMEDA (Small and Medium Entrepreneur Development Authority) and AHAN (Air Hunar Aik Nagar) in imparting skill training to women which was giving boost to female entrepreneurship.
Nasira Laghmani said she would also try to establish a state of the art exhibition centre in Peshawar for display of products being prepared by women. International brand companies would be allowed to come and select samples displayed at the exhibition centre, she added.
