FBR freezes bank accounts of 50 tax evaders in Gujranwala

SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has frozen the accounts of 50 big tax evaders  in Gujranwala region and has drawn Rs 8 million from their accounts.

According to the senior  FBR officials, the FBR froze the ban accounts as a last attempt to recover outstanding dues, as the said big businessmen-cum-tax evaders were still reluctant to pay their defaulted big amounts of taxes, ignoring the repeated recovery notices issued to the by the FBR.

The officials added that the FBR also imposed ban on the transfer of  as many as 25 commercial plots and 35 luxurious vehicles in different parts of the Gujranwala region for being defaulted by their duties and taxes as well.

They revealed that the FBR  established “Special Recovery Cell” at Regional Tax Directorate Gujranwala to facilitate the local tax payers at local level, saying that the FBR was making all out sincere efforts to bring maximum people under the tax net by offering them several lucrative tax related incentives as well.
