Well-placed sources in LDA told APP here this evening that LDA revised the PC-I of the project which will be sent to the Planning and Development department after approval of the LDA.

According to the approved design by the Punjab Government, the signal free corridor, starting from the Liberty Roundabout to the Qurtaba Chowk at Ferozepur Road will not only cut down road occupancy time but also will increase capacity of Jail Road and the Main Boulevard, Gulberg.

During the construction work, traffic flow on this busy route has been affected due to reopening of educational institutions including Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), APWA College for Women, Kinnaird College for Women, Home Economics College Gulberg , Service Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Crescent Higher Secondary School Shadman and Fatima Memorial medical College etc. due to the partially closure of the road on various points.

The length of the road under the project is 7.6 kilometres and it includes two underpasses at Shadman Chowk and Fawara No 1 Chowk T-Junction, near Siddique Trade Centre besides re-modelling of main boulevard, Gulberg and the reconstruction of Jail Road from Sherpao Bridge to Qurtaba Chowk.
