LUANDA: The vessels “TOPIA PEARL” and “ARMADA TUAH”, with Panamanian and Malayan flags respectively, were seized by the Angolan defence and security forces, in the ambit of the routine maritime surveillance work.
According to a communiqué issued by the Ministry of the Interior, which reached ANGOP, the occupants of the vessels were found doing illegal transfer of fuel 11 miles away from the Angolan coast, with the authorities also finding signs of oil spill on the sea.
The two boats, reads the document, were seized and taken to the Luanda Bay and placed under the surveillance of the authorities.
ANGOP has also learnt that the occupants of the vessels are now awaiting trial.
