SIALKOT: Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan on Monday said the PML-N government’s economical policies were helping in restoring the confidence of the national and foreign investors. He also reaffirmed to complete the past economical development agenda of the PML-N.

GSP Plus status given to Pakistan by the European Union would end in July 2023, he added. The minister said the government was working to remove all the hurdles from the promotion of exports and investment development in the country.

He said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was meant for only tax collection, but now the board would have to provide all facilities to the exporters and business community.

He said this while addressing a meeting of Sialkot business community at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

SCCI President Fazal Jillani, SVP Mir Alamgir Meyer, VP Malik Naseer Ahmed, Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Yaqub, Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) Chairman Muhammad Younus and MPA Muhammad Ikram were also present.

The minister said that the government would soon introduce a multi-phased comprehensive plan to ensure the national economical stability.

He said that the PML-N government has halted the economical downslide due to which the national economy was recovering.

The minister said the TDAP was being modernised to enable the country’s trade and export sectors to meet the international trade challenges under the prevailing WTO Regime.

He said that the government was providing the level playing field to the traders and exporters despite facing a challenging situation in the country.

Khan revealed that the government was also rapidly revamping the entire basic infrastructure and mechanism of the Export Development Fund (EDF), as the government was bringing some radical changes in EDF mechanism.

He said that the proper export growth and trade development was being ensured through establishing a proper mechanism of proper mutual cooperation among all departments.

The minister said the government was striving to open new vistas of export exploration. He urged the Sialkot exporters to focus on the diversification of their traditional to non-traditional export products by exploring and capturing new international trade and export markets.

He said that the GSP Plus status for Pakistan by the European Union would end in July 2023. Khan said that the intensity of the prolonged energy crisis was reducing day by day in the country.
