Russia exports 12.072m m3 of logs during last six months

MOSCOW: In the first 8 month of 2015 Russia exported less logs and more sawn timber than in the respective period of last year. These conclusions may be drawn based on the statistical data provided by the Russian Federal Customs Service.

Thus, for the indicated period Russia exported 12.072 million m3 of logs, having reduced exports in volume by 9.88% year on year (Jan-Aug 2014: 13.397 million m3). In value terms, Russian log exports decreased more significantly: from $1.175 billion in the first eight months of 2015 to $867.2 million in Jan-Aug 2015, or by 26.22%.

Russian lumber export dynamics for the abovemetioned period was slightly different. A moderate increase in volume terms was observed. Thus, in the period from January to August 2015, Russia exported 9.435 million m3 of lumber. In such a way, Russian lumber exports volume grew by 8.33% year on year (Jan-Aug 2014: 8.709 million m3).

Russian lumber exports in value terms went down, even though the decrease was not so significant as that of log export value. The value of the lumber exported from Russia reduced by 18,57% from $2.573 billion in Jan-Aug 2014 to $2.095 billion in the same months of 2015.

Moderately good dynamics was observed in the Russian plywood exports. During first 8 months of 2015 Russia exported 1.483 million m3 of plywood, or 11.79% more than during the respective period of last year (Jan-Aug 2014: 1.325 million m3). In terms of value, however, the Russian plywood expors descreased by 14% having gone down to $692.6 million in Jan-Aug 2015 (Jan-Aug 2014: $805.4 million).
