ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan is considering suspending the membership of 374 parliamentarians who have failed to submit their tax returns, it is learnt here.
Sources told Customs Today that Election Commission of Pakistan will issue a notification for suspension of membership of these parliamentarians today.
Sources added that according to Public Representatives Act, every member of the parliament is bound to submit his/her tax returns till September 30, 2015.
Sources added that around 800 out of 1174 parliamentarians so far submitted details of their properties as well as tax returns till October 14, 2015.
Sources added that Election Commission will suspend the membership and issue the notification of those parliamentarians who has not yet submitted their tax returns after this they will not be able to participate in any activity of parliament till submission of their tax returns.
