HANOI:  Viet Nam and China held the first ministerial-level session of the working group on land infrastructure co-operation in Beijing yesterday to seek more practical and effective co-operation mechanisms in the field.

The function drew representatives from the two countries’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Finance, Government Offices, and the Vietnamese Embassy in China.

The two sides discussed the feasibility of some transport projects, including the Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong standard railway, as well as co-operation in non-renewable energy, which aims to enrich the bilateral economic ties and guarantee mutual benefits in a stable and equal manner.

The Governments of Viet Nam and China agreed to establish working groups on land infrastructure, monetary and marine co-operation in late 2013 during the visit to Viet Nam by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang with a view to furthering the bilateral comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership.

During the working visit to China, the Vietnamese delegation met with Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng and President of the Import-Export Bank of China Hu Xiaolian. The Vietnamese officials also visited Wuhan city in Hubei province to promote trade and investment collaboration between the two countries and localities.
