WELLINGTON: IG International, a leading firm in fresh fruits imports and exports, has introduced New Zealand Avocados in India and they are now available in retail outlets across the country. IG International imports Avocados from Avanza, a renowned grower of Avocados and one of New Zealand’s top avocado exporters.

Avocados are nutrient-dense super fruits, and are much more than just a delicious creamy addition to all meals. They have potential health benefits for all groups from expectant mothers and babies to weight watchers.

Avocados are packed with energy with nearly 20 essential nutrients including fibre, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a ‘nutrient booster’ by enabling the body to absorb more fat soluble nutrients, such as alpha and beta-carotene and lutein, in foods that are eaten with the fruit. Avocados are also great for healthy skin, promoting beauty from the inside out.

Tarun Arora, director, IG International said, “Avocados are incredible nutritious and nourishing for the body and soul. If you like to get the most out of life then you should definitely include an avocado in your diet. Your body will love you for it.”

Many nutritionists consider avocados as the perfect food as they are abundant in valuable vitamins and minerals, as well as healthy fats, protein and carbohydrates. Avocados also can help to lower cholesterol as they contain plant sterols which may reduce the absorption of cholesterol in general.

Avocados carry the New Zealand Heart Foundation double tick for inclusion in a heart healthy diet. The avocado is a New Zealand Heart Foundation approved fruit to be enjoyed in moderation. The avocado is one of the only fruits to contain predominantly monounsaturated fats (oleic acid), and around 7 per cent polyunsaturated fat (linoleic acid), making the fruit an ideal healthy eating choice.
