AUSTIN: A Texas Department of Public Safety uncovered more than $1.2 million during a traffic stop in Edinburg.
A state trooper pulled over a driver of a 2007 Peterbill 18-wheeler headed southbound of U.S. 281 near Ramseyer Road.
The 12 bundles of cash totaling $1,239,755 was hidden in the tractor trailer, according to a Department of Public Safety news release.
The driver of Roman M. Sanchez, 51, was charged with money laundering, a federal offense, according to the news release.
U.S. Marshals took Sanchez into custody and the investigation into the alleged money laundering continues.
