HONG KONG: A team of international scientists has completed research on identifying the highly risked zones of the world, where global warming may show its critical effects in the upcoming few years. However, these 41 tipping points are not near the densely populated regions of the world, but are near sea-sides or above the arctic.
Once again, with the study researchers have warned that the world is facing the consequences of over-exploitation of resources and neglecting the environment and if nothing is done to fight the world’s biggest problem ‘Global Warming’ now then severe consequenced are waiting for us ahead.
The 5th IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports, based on climate model simulations states that evidence of 41 cases of regional abrupt changes in the ocean, sea ice, snow cover, permafrost and terrestrial biosphere have been found. These models are based on highly sophisticated mathematical data that these research scientists has been searching for years from now. Out of these 41 abrupt changes detected, 18 are at really very high risk of danger as temperature levels seems to have increased more than 2-degree celsius in these areas.
Sybren Drijfhout, lead author Professor from Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton said “This illustrates the high uncertainty in predicting tipping points.” He further added “More precisely, our results show that the different state-of-the-art models agree that abrupt changes are likely, but that predicting when and where they will occur remains very difficult. Also, our results show that no safe limit exists and that many abrupt shifts already occur for global warming levels much lower than two degrees.”
