FBR issues notices to collector, commissioners for not deciding pending appeals

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued show cause notices to a collector of Pakistan Customs Services (PCS) and 10 commissioners of the Inland Revenue (IR) for not deciding the appeals on time.

Sources said that the FBR has issued notices to Collector Customs Karachi Zulfiqar Malik as he had failed to decide 19 appeals on time while notices are served on 10 IR commissioners, including Commissioner IR-Appeal Regional Tax Office-I (RTO) Karachi Fazal Muhammad, for not deciding 79 appeals, Commissioner RTO-III and IV Karachi Nazir Ahmad Shoro for not settling 1,356 appeals, besides issuing notices to Commissioner of RTO-I and II Lahore, Syed Nadeem Hasan.

They added that the FBR also issued notices to Commissioners IR-Appeal Lahore, Khalid Mehmood, Anwarul Haq, Commissioner Islamabad Abdul Rasheed and Commissioner Bahawalpur Asif Rasool, Commissioner Faisalabad Muhammad Tariq, Commissioner Haider Abad Zahor Ahmed and Commissioner Gujranwala Muhammad Tahir on not settling the appeals timely.

It is important to mention here that Supreme Court has directed the FBR to decide the 3,350 pending appeals within three months.
