Rs20b allocated for CPEC western route from PSDP, Senate body told

ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar has revealed that no amount has been allocated for the western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) from the project’s funds.

He told this to the Senate Standing Committee on Communication, adding that however, Rs20 billion have been allocated from the Public Sector Development Fund (PSDP). He admitted that currently allocation has been made only for the Karakoram Highway phase-2 under the CPEC.

The committee noted that work on the western route had not started according to the commitment made by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the All Parties Conference.
