LONDON: More than 34,000 fake cigarettes and 10,000 litres of illicit alcohol worth thousands of pounds have been seized.
HM Revenue and Customs, supported by the police, carried out a two-day operation and visited 25 shops across the region. Suspected illegal tobacco and alcohol were seized from 16 Notts premises.
10,000 litres of beer were seized from one shop in Mansfield, with an estimated £9,200 duty and VAT evaded.
Officers seized £21,000 from premises in Worksop, under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
