KP NAB arrests man in housing scam

PESHAWAR: The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Thursday arrested a man, namely Abdul Hashim, who was involved in fraud in acquisition of land for a housing scheme at Surezai Bala Peshawar.

The Accountability Court Peshawar remanded the accused in NAB custody for seven days physical remand. An investigation into embezzlement in Government funds in acquisition of land for Surezai Housing Scheme by Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) is under progress.

The allegation involves embezzlement of millions of rupees in the process of acquisition of land for housing scheme at Surezai Bala. The land owners in Surezai were paid less than the price per kanal fixed as compensation of land by the Govt. During the process of payment of compensation of land, few land owners were paid twice.

During the course of investigation, it transpired that accused Abdul Hashim being land owner during the process of acquisition of land by Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) in Surezai Bala Peshawar had illegally received double payments from PHA as compensation of his family land measuring 32 kanal and 7 marla.

The accused illegally received amount of Rs.37,85,393 despite the fact that his father and other family members had already received payment for land.
