Exports of surgical, medical goods increase by 0.55% in Q1

ISLAMABAD: The country’s exports of surgical goods and medical instruments have witnessed 0.55 per cent growth during first quarter of current financial year as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

During the period from July-September, 2015, surgical goods and medical instruments worth $80.858 million exported as compared to the exports of $80.417 million of same period last year.

According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, exports of pharmaceutical products grew by 1.80 percent as about 2,914 metric tons of pharmaceutical products costing $50.871 million exported as compared to the exports of 3,735 metric tons valuing $49.971 million of same period last year.

Meanwhile, fertilizers exports from the country witnessed 100 percent increase and about 3,300 metric tons of fertilizers worth $0.10 million exported during the period under review as compared to exports of same period last year.

However, during the period under review, exports of cutlery goods decreased by 9.39 percent and came down from $21.731 million to 19.690 million in first quarter. Whereas exports of plastic materials decreased by 14.13 percent and recorded at $52.55 million as compared to the exports of same period last year, the data revealed.

The data revealed that in first quarter of last financial, exports of plastic material was recorded at 45,774 metric tons valuing $61.204 million.

During first three months of current financial year, the exports of Onyx manufactured grew by 13.49 percent as about 763 metric tons of the onyx manufactured worth $2.225 million exported. The export of above mentioned commodity during first quarter of last financial year was recorded at 659 metric tons valuing $1.987 million, the data revealed.

During the period from July-September, 2015 exports of other chemical from the country registered negative growth of 10 percent. In last three months other chemical export from the country was recorded at 135.916 million as compared to the exports of $152.383 million of same period last year.
