KARACHI: The Customs authorities have decided to hold meetings with traders on the directions of the federal government and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to curb smuggling from the country.
According to the sources, Customs authorities will seek help from traders to overcome smuggling of goods. The sources said, after arresting goods smugglers, Customs faces pressure from traders which slows the pace of anti-smuggling actions. Customs has found courier companies as supporters of smugglers.
According to Apex committee decision, Customs has decided to recruit honest persons in the department to curb smuggling across the country.
