MEXICO CITY: One of Mexico’s most wanted, a former bodyguard of the leader of the Caballeros Templarios cartel, has been arrested without incident in Chiapas.
Jaime Bustos Cabrera was detained on suspicion of kidnapping and murder of 12 Federal Police officers in July 2009 in Michoacán.
He is believed to have been a close associate of former cartel leader Servando “La Tuta” Gómez Martínez, who was arrested last February, serving as both bodyguard and messenger, delivering payments to other gang members and gathering and packaging marijuana.
His area of operations included the Michoacán municipalities of Lázaro Cárdenas, Arteaga and Huetamo.
Bustos Cabrera, 39, who was placed on the most-wanted list in 2010, was detained in the municipality of Comitán de Domínguez.
