HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks have retreated after the Federal Reserve hinted at a possible US interest rate hike in December, although Shanghai ended higher as China’s leaders wound up a key policy meeting.
The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong on Thursday fell 0.60 per cent, or 136.63 points, to close at 22,819.94.
But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 0.36 per cent, or 12.12 points, to 3,387.32, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, rose 0.80 per cent, or 16.02 points, to 2,014.40.
