Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes generator worth Rs 2.5m

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized a foreign origin electric generator worth Rs 2.5 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.39 million, besides impounding a truck being used for the transportation of the generator.

Customs Intelligence team following information conveyed through Additional Director Saud Imran conducted the raid near Manvra Cineman, Faisalabad to capture the smuggled items.

The team intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. LES-2684 and recovered a generator of Cummans brand and asked the owner of generator namely Sohail Munir and driver of the vehicle named as Muhammad Afzal to produce the documents showing the legal import of the items but he remained fail.

Therefore, Customs Intelligence confiscated the items under Section 157(2) of Customs Act, 1969.

Customs Intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Main Muhammad Yousaf and Sepoys Ghulam Ghous, Muhammad Naeem Niazi and Allah Bux participated in the raid.
