Chinese traders visit FCCI to explore investment opportunities

FAISALABAD: China is fully prepared to invest in viable projects of auto parts, building material, steel mill, mining and energy etc, said Li Pengfie, head of Chinese delegation that visited Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) to explore investment opportunities in this city.

Addressing the industrialists and businessmen of Faisalabad at FCCI, he said that Pak-China Friendship has become iconic and now time has come to translate this friendship into economic terms. He said the objective of his visit to Pakistan is to personally evaluate the investment opportunities available in Pakistan. “We will discuss and analyse various projects so that immediate work could be started on these”, he added.

He said that during last 60 years, China has made tremendous progress only due to the independent trade policies of Chinese Government and Communist party and now China has become a fully developed country. Our President Xi preferred peace instead of war and fully concentrated on the socio-economic development of the country. “We fully exploited the modern scientific inventions to give a quantum jump to the economic development and this is the secret of our progress”, he added.

Continuing Li Pengfie said that Pakistan and China are time tested friends and now we want to transform this friendship into durable and sustained economic development so that our coming generation could also harvest its fruits. He said that objective of their visit to Pakistan is to identify projects in which they could immediately start work. He quoted the shortage of electricity in Pakistan and said that China has expertise in building hydel power plants and we are ready to invest in these projects.

Chinese investors are in a position to immediately start work on large numbers of projects provided local entrepreneurs showed sincerity and commitment, said Mr. Li adding that joint ventures could also be launched in collaboration with dependable companies or firms.

We have financial resources but are totally ignorant of market mechanism, he said and wished that FCCI should guide them that in which field they could invest for the benefit of the two countries.

Responding to different questions Li said that after completing the market survey of Pakistan, he will consult his Chinese entrepreneurs and convince them to start various projects immediately. He hoped that Pakistani entrepreneurs will also cooperate with them in this regard.

Earlier, Vice President Jamil Ahmed introduced Faisalabad and FCCI and said that Faisalabad is the industrial hub of Pakistan with maximum opportunities to start new businesses. He welcomed the Chinese delegation and said that Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company has allocated space in M-3 Industrial city for direct foreign investment and hoped that Chinese investors will avail from this opportunity. He also offered to sign an MOU for sustained cooperation between FCCI and Chinese entrepreneurs.

He said that Pakistan is rich in mineral resources and Chinese help to explore the hidden wealth can make both Pakistan and China prosperous.
