BEIJING: Shanghai stocks were flat by the break on Tuesday, as gains in global markets overnight failed to provide a strong lift amid worries over the slowing Chinese economy, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.02 percent, or 0.59 points, to 3,325.67 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, gained 0.41 percent, or 8.10 points, to 1,996.07.
The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong rose 1.37 percent, or 306.13 points, to end the morning at 22,676.17.
