Customs Second Secretary Dr Ghulam Mustafa fired over corruption

ISLAMABAD: Dr Ghulam Mustafa, a Pakistan Customs Service officer of BS-18, posted as Second Secretary, Federal Board of Revenue (HQs), Islamabad, has been fired from the job over corruption.

The disciplinary proceedings were stated against the officer on account of ‘misconduct’ under the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973. After having examined the relevant record, written defence made by the accused officer and affording him opportunity of being heard, the Authorized Officer/Member (Admn) found the accused officer guilty of all the charges mentioned in the Show Cause Notice and recommended to the Authority imposition of major penalty of removal from service upon the said officer under Rule 4(1)(b)(iii) of the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 on account of his unauthorised absence from duty since December 12, 2014.

The Secretary Revenue Division/FBR Chairman, being the Authority in this case, after having considered all the aspects of the case and the recommendation of the Authorised Officer, imposed major penalty of “Removal from Service” upon Dr Ghulam Mustafa under Rule 4(1)(b)(iii) of Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973, with effect from Oct 19, 15.

However, the officer has right of appeal to the Appellate Authority as provided under the Civil Servants (Appeals) Rules, 1977.
