567 horsepower BMW X5 & X6 are hottest-of-the-hot family haulers

WASHINGTON: Ready-to-be-launched M versions of BMW’s SUVs are being dubbed as hottest-of-the-hot family haulers.

BMW’s X5 M and X6 M’s top speed is limited to 155 miles per hour. Zero to 60 mph times are about 4 seconds. The X5 M is squared off in back while the X6 M has more a sleek, coupe-style roofline. The pair have 3% more power. It’s based around the M TwinPower Turbo V-8 in both, with twin-scroll turbochargers, cross-bank exhaust manifolds and direct injection, the 4.4-liter V-8 produces 567 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive vehicles come with eight-speed automatic transmissions.
