Macedonia’s FDI surges 6% to $9.48m in first eight months of 2015

SKOPJE: Macedonian Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) rose by 6.0 percent in the first eight months of 2015, statistics data show, with an increase of 8.7 million euros (about 9.48 million U.S. dollars) compared to the same period of last year.

For August 2015, the FDI was 27.4 million euros, marking an increase of 11.3 percent compared to August 2014, Macedonia’s Information Agency reported on Tuesday

Viktor Mizo, CEO of the directorate for industrial zones, declared that several companies were set to invest in Macedonia in the coming months.

“Among two American automotive companies, one will invest in Skopje 1, Bunardzik zone, where 500 jobs will be created. The other company will be located in inland Macedonia and is expected to hire approximately 1,500 people,” Mizo added.

A total of 1.2 billion euros of exported goods were reported from industrial zones in the first ten months of 2015. According to the forecasts made, the export of goods will reach up to 1.4 billion euros by the end of 2015.
